Billy Joel tickets have gotten awfully expensive the past few years, and now that he is almost exclusively doing these combined stadium bills, the ticket price is even higher! So, 2 weeks out I decided to enter a few contests I saw advertised on FB not thinking I would actually win (I never win anything!) and sure enough -- I did! The tickets were a bit obstructed off to the side (we had a large scaffolding blocking half the stage), but they were completely free! I cannot complain. We did have a very large stack facing us, so that was a positive. The sound was really good for a stadium! I certainly did not expect to get a pull anywhere near this good. Billy's setlists are pretty much guaranteed to stay the same with 2 or 3 songs being swapped out. In Indy, we got "The Longest Time" and "Big Man On Mulberry Street" (which he has done with Sting on other co-headlines). I have seen both before, but I still enjoyed them immensely. One final note on the setlists, I believe this was the first time I have gone to see Billy since 2006 where "Zanzibar" was omitted. "Don't Ask Me Why" was another glaring omission, but no complaints here. The set had to be a little shorter to accommodate Sting's earlier 70 minute set. This was also Billy's first return to Indianapolis since Nov of 2017 when he played Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Huge thanks to the Lafayette Macaroni Kid newsletter for the free tickets.
