I first heard the ending of 'Drive in This Saturday' on the end of a Bowie bootleg tape - it had been recorded over and the ending was all that remained - back in the early 90's, and I was amazed! I played it over and over again. A little later again I was pleased to purchase a recording from the off master tape from a tape collector / trader. Unfortunately I lost or lent out my tapes of this show a long time ago, and have sadly not been able to replace them.  This is being shared from a minidisc recording as despite several polite requests I have not been able to track down the pre CD-R version of this show. Many of the CD-Rs of Bowie shows are badly afflicted with diginoise and artefacts, and not always from the best sources. The minidisc back ups are all I could find after much searching. This still sounds magnificient in my opinion though, thankfully! There is some beautiful playing on this - listen to the piano on Sweet Thing and Changes!...and the organ on Changes, and Rock and Roll With Me is amazing too! Drive in Saturday, as previously alluded, is amazing, but unfortunately cut in the middle part. And what an enchanting intro Width of a Circle has! One of the best on the whole tour...? The stereo balance is not perfect - I did my best to correct it a little in Audacity, bringing up the gain in the left or right channel. I have tacked on the end my own 'mix' of the afternoon and evening version of 'Watch That Man' and 'Drive in Saturday', as both had cuts in the middle.
Particularly bearing in mind the dropouts in All the Young Dudes, and the cuts in Watch That Man and Drive in Saturday, I'd be very interested in what any semi professional could achieve in mixing this gig. I spent 2-3 hours on repairing dropouts and stereo image imbalances (in particular on Space Oddity) alone. I have enjoyed working on this and listening to it immensely.
