Part of this was down to the recording, but this at least’s sounds a little more natural to me. The tape ran too fast, I aligned the speed with the well known 5th September recording, and did very slight EQing (and I do mean very slight), to reduce the hiss just a touch. It's still there, and you can still hear plenty of the treble frequencies. This sounds lovely now to me, a pleasure to listen to, rather than the WTF?? chore I found it before in the versions I'd heard from torrents online. It has a nice stereo-ish sound at times - noticeable on Sweet Thing for instance. Once my ears were tuned to this, it feels a very high quality recording. I have been wondering if it was recorded by the same person who recorded Wisconsin in October - it's got both that close sound (that could be confused for a mixing desk recording, but for the audience screams) and the slightly odd vocal timbre (Bowie's vocal does sound 'different' on both this and on the Wisconsin recording, with respect...but it is wonderful to have these much closer sounding recordings than the majority of audience recordings from the time, whatever minor imperfections there may be). If this is for you, enjoy.
