Herron Notes: The bootleggers apparently cut some songs played that night, perhaps to make the show fit on a single CD. According to Daryll White's "R.E.M. Timeline" site (http://members.ozemail.com.au/~darrylw/rem/remmain.html) [link dead, see below], the full set list for the evening was as follows: - Moral Kiosk / Driver 8 / Catapult / Hyena / Camera / Pilgrimage / Talk About The Passion / Seven Chinese Brothers / So. Central Rain / Pretty Persuasion / Gardening At Night / 9-9 / Windout / Old Man Kensey / Radio Free Europe / Little America encore 1: Sitting Still / Burning Down / Pale Blue Eyes / 1,000,000 encore 2: So You Want To Be A Rock'n'Roll Star / Carnival Of Sorts (Boxcars) / Skank - I know the recordings of Driver 8 and Catapult played that night appeared on officially released R.E.M. recordings in their IRS days. Copyright prevents inclusion here. I'm not sure if Sitting Still ever made it onto a B Side or not. Released: January, 1992 Notes: CD is mastered from vinyl. Checked with Adobe Audition: Lossless comment: This show is one of the all time greatest R.E.M. performances taken from a sweltering night in Seattle on the globe-trotting Little America tour. This show was recorded by the band for possible release as a live album but was shelved indefinitely because such a project just didn't fit with R.E.M.'s nonconformist and independent-minded ethos - live albums were soooooooo "corporate rock". Fortunately the tapes survived and we present them here in all their glory. This show provides THE definitive performances of so many classics like Radio Free Europe, Pilgrimage, Gardening at Night, 9-9, and Carnival of Sorts as the band rip through the songs with such breathtaking intensity and spectacular abandon that you'll throw away your studio albums for being pale imitations. Yet amongst the maelstrom and ferocity areexquisite and controlled performances of Old Man Kensey, the Velvet's Pale Blue Eyes and an incredibly emotional Camera that ranks as one of the finest ever performances by Michael Stipe. This show is so good that when Peter Buck failed to get his copy of the masters due to a record company screw up he went out and bought the vinyl bootleg. Yes it is that essential and if not the greatest R.E.M. show of all time then it has to be in the top 3 no question.
