Band line-up: Michael Stipe – lead vocals, harmonica Peter Buck – guitar Mike Mills – bass guitar, keyboards, piano, backing vocals, occasional co-lead vocals Bill Berry – drums, percussion, backing vocals, occasional bass guitar and keyboards Notes: Courtesy of the Stonecutter Archives is this audience recording from R.E.M. Yes, a nice soundboard of this show circulates, but it runs just a touch under 80 minutes, so clearly it probably had been pared down for the CDR trading age. The Lucy Show opened. £3.50 admission, £2.75 advance. Fair warning to all ye who grab: beginning of the tape plays extremely muffled, but that clears up about 27 minutes in, revealing a rather decent audience capture. Other flaws: The end of "Rockville" is cut. There is a cut at the start of "Auctioneer." "Moon River" and "Second Guessing" cut in. "Pretty Persuasion" has a bit of static breakup early into the song, but that could possibly even be from the venue's PA. Gotta better copy of this? Let's hear it!
