I'm not a fan of this tour by any means, but this has a nice mix of new and old, including several selections from their then-unreleased "Out Of Time" album ("Belong," "King of Birds," and "Low"). As I recall, the show was nearly sold out, and the band put on a solid show for the 40,000-ish crowd. There are several "tags" Stipe occasionally inserted on a good night ("Tired of Singing Trouble," "Harpers") and some I haven't heard much at all ("We Live as We Dream..." "With The People"). If you like this tour at all, you will probably enjoy this show. The recording itself is much better than I had remembered it. My copy came from a 2nd gen. tape and needed to be slowed down a little (about 1%); I think the pitch is pretty much correct now, but anyone with a better ear is more than welcome to tweak this and repost. It's probably a little too heavy on high end and low on vocals to be a "perfect" mix, but given the analog recording technology of the time, this is a very solid recording. (It helps that Alpine Valley has the best acoustics in the Chicago area.) Mp3 samples are attached for those on the fence. I'm filling this as a request, but figured there are enough R.E.M. fans around the world that there are plenty who may appreciate it. Dimeadozen.org: Torrent 123736 (by ademotte)
