A very intimate venue compared to the usual venue size the band were playing, the Vienna Opera House only holds 1,500 people, and tickets were in high demand. This led to a more mellow setlist, with some rarely performed songs, such as How The West Was Won And Where It Got Us (performed 12 times ever, 11 in 1999) and the first performance of Half A World Away in almost 4 years. A terrific encore with the rarely played E-Bow The Letter with Patti Smith, who was the support for this show (what a double pairing!), and Patti and her whole band for People Have The Power. This was likely to have been the planned finale, but a very enthusiastic crowd coaxed them back out for one more. A great listen for anyone who doesn't have this one. Recording notes: This is a decent sounding recording, at times the volume is too loud for the recorder to handle (likely made with a minidisc), but for the most part it sounds fine. Thanks to the taper whoever you are! Torrent notes: This has been on Dime twice prior to this, first time by joe2005 in May 2007, and by raya in June 2009. The original torrent split the show into 2 CD's which I have removed (disc 1 ends at Losing My Religion in case anyone still burns to CD), and I have tagged and renamed all the files, and created new ffp and md5 files. The recording itself has been untouched. This was a reseed request and I highly recommend a download for any R.E.M. fan that doesn't have it in your collection. http://remtimeline.com/ for all your R.E.M. setlist needs!
