It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) [6:03] Source: Neumann KM-140 Cardioid mics -> Lunatec V3 -> Sony D8 DAT other acts performing: Leftover Salmon, Nickel Creek, Wilco Michael Stipe - Vocals, harmonica Peter Buck - Guitar, mandolin Mike Mills - Bass Guitar, keyboards, backing vocals Scott McCaughey - Guitar, backing vocals Bill Rieflin - Drums Ken Stringfellow - Keyboards Show notes: This might be a controversial statement, but I consider 2003 to be R.E.M.'s greatest tour. Free of the obligations of touring a new album, this was a greatest hits tour (with the greatest hits album not even being released until the end of October), and the band free to play what they liked, even giving fans the opportunity to request songs through remhq.com. This show found the band playing the Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle on Labor Day, and features a pretty damn fine setlist, with some rarities like New Test Leper, Nightswimming and World Leader Pretend. Perhaps the only slight criticsm I can think of is no songs from pre 1985 featured. Otherwise, a damn fine setlist and an excellent show. Recording notes: This is an excellent audience recording, the taper doing a brilliant job here. Minimal audience noise, crisp clear, kudos to the taper, I really can't fault it. You'll love listening to this. Torrent notes: I received this in an online trade last year. I can't find any evidence of this show being on Dime before, so it would seem this is its Dime debut. I renamed the files, removed the disc 1 and disc 2 separation (disc 1 ends at Nightswimming if you're old school), tagged them, and added a few images. Enjoy!
