After closing both my Master and Special series I took a break from seeding, enjoying life and most of all preparing for a new series! This is not going to be as frequent as my previous ones, I'll be seeding shows from time to time so don't expect massive volumes here. Why a "vintage" series? Because music in the 70's and 80's was really something...so different, so special with "that" kind of sound which you don't find anymore. That was the era of real music without the internet, of long tours and enjoyable live shows spanning from metal to new wave, progressive, jazz, fusion, pop. So many bands were born and disappeared during those two decades. I am then celebrating the 70's and the 80's and their unmistakeable sound in this LDB Vintage Series. You will find many bands I have never seeded in the past but that I still enjoy listening to. Most of these come from low generation tapes that were traded around that period, many radio broadcasts and overall lots of surprises. Hope you will enjoy this new series! Notes: I have been transferring the whole of the RLR collection for many years. That was a massive collection of over 1,400 tapes which he has traded or recorded between the late 70's and mid 90's. Any sort of music was there: from metal to jazz. When I went to his place about one year ago he gave me the last bunch of 200 tapes which included around 70-80 without any label: no indication of band, venue, date, no written note, nothing at all. THAT is the ultimate challenge to listen to each of them and try to figure out who the hell is playing, from which tour, city and date. But it is an exciting exercise, especially when, after extensive internet browsing and careful listen I can define all the details. This was not extremely difficult to find. A clear setlist from the 1985 leg of the Blue Turtle tour of Sting (Russians was not performed), one of the two nights played in Rome Italy and the man himself stating that it was the second night (the first night being played on the 3rd). This one has come to me on three unlabelled tapes with two of them having both a part two of the show (beginning with I Burn For You) and both from Rome. Again, it was not difficult to find the one from the 4th leaving me with a part 2 from the previous evening. Who knows if I will ever find part one in some of other unlabelled RLR tapes...This one comes from a solid 2nd generation copy (the only info that was on the label) and sounds quite good given its age. The cornerstone of the whole show being the masterpiece I Burn For You, a fairly unknown Police track that Sting resurrected for his first solo tour, expanding it and turning it into a majestic rock-jazz piece with a great drums solo by Omar Hakim. This version clocks 14:19 and it is just marvellous. Enjoy! ldb Thetradersden.org: Torrent 146212 (by metro_cubo)
