Shaggy? As it turns out, nothing to do with Scooby Doo and from a musical perspective, not my usual fayre. I'm guessing 44/876 has something to do with telephone dialing codes, in which case this gig should adopt the pseudonym 0191/44/876. Anyway, whilst the venue was adequately filled, I don't think it was quite a sellout. Royalty spotted in the balcony in the shape of Alan Shearer. As you may have established, I'm not familiar with Shaggy. Sting - seen him a few times over the years. Although I initially viewed this as an odd pairing, they do have a heavy reggae influence by way of a common denominator. In the main, it works. Certainly well received by a very vocal audience, although the local lad has more than an edge in the popularity stakes around here. There's a fair rotation in tunes played between Sting's back catalogue, Shaggy and their collaborative efforts, and they're joined by a couple of guest artists, Newcastle's Gospel Choir making the biggest impact in that respect on one or two numbers. Very hot, very sweaty, surprisingly loud and...reasonably enjoyable. Was never going to make my top ten gigs but, certainly where some of The Police numbers were concerned, a few real highlights. Anyway, for those of you who may be as curious as I was at the outset, here's what happened: Enjoy. Dimeadozen.org: Torrent 650264 (by Lesterferget)
