It was during this latter leg of the tour that the band were playing exclusively in larger venues, and this tour was their first with sequencers. Judging by the squeals of joy here, the band was by all turns triumphant and comfortable playing in these arenas to their growing audience. As Bono acknowledges, U2 could've called Long Island their second home, as local station WLIR constantly played them on their airwaves, championing them long before WNEW or other New York City radio stations would go all in. "Wide Awake in America" wouldn't be released until late May, so U2 effortlessly expanding "Bad" into a longer live centerpiece that incorporated the Stones covers here was mostly new to their audiences. Bono references the Easter weekend that would follow in "40" as they drop in their "feed the world" snippets. It would still be a few months from Live-Aid, before U2's popularity skyrocketed to the next level. In contrast, poor Lone Justice who opened this show, were met with jeers or indifference. Circulation of this show is most commonly via an audience master by Joe Maloney, who recorded both the opener and headliner. This Stonecutter source has also circulated before, under the "Long Island On Fire" with CDR in its lineage, and possibly as a first gen. However, this is a brand-new transfer direct from the master tapes. It is a keeper if you care for this era of the band. Enjoy, elegymart. Dimeadozen.org: Torrent 634886 (by elegymart)
