I hope you'll like it. This is a remastered version of a fanstatic show. I've patched some audio portion (staring at the sun) from an fm broadcast coming off a dat recording. All sources are lossless. I was not able to complete "where the streets have no name" because all the recordings i've listened sound pretty inferior to mine and some were not stereo. The source here used is superior to any other recording of this show. I've done my best with my new audio equipment to obtain a pleasent listening of a great show. cheers Francesco **************************************************************************************************************** vanillag remaster notes: OK, so the story goes...Dquan81 contacts me & says something to the effect of, "Hey, the match up of fradoca, myself & vanillag on "Adelaide '93" worked out pretty darn well--how would like to attempt another one like that from 1998?? I was game & he sent me this fradoca remaster of Santiago '98. Very sweet indeed, but the first thing I noticed is that it was super, super loud & compressed out to an extreme degree, yet still somewhat thin & could use a healthy dose more of Adam. The other issue (IMO) is the crowd was mixed sooooooo super loud & that is not really an issue during the music (it works with that well, etc.), but when a tune ends, they were just so ear-splittingly LOUD & pumped in the mix that it really becomes tiring to listen to & that is just not good for one's ears nor one's speakers (ymmv). So I very respectfully & tastefully (again, IMO) WAVhammered that crowd to a reasonable loudness that will not crush the listener...they are still plenty damn loud, but no longer scratching around & yelling all shrill directly into your earhole or face, etc. Also did my objective best to pull Adam back to where he belongs in the mix with the rest of the boys. Along the way I also fixed a few SBEs, clicks & some general cleanup, etc. Finally, did similar things to an alternate mono video source that Dquan81 also sent along (to make it sound close to the main source) as he wishes to splice back the missing section of "WTSHNN" & "Lemon" from the proper night, instead of the section from Sarajevo, which is what was used here. After I did that, I went ahead & spent another day doing my anal retentive best to patch that section into the proceedings & think I did a darn good job of it actually. Then, because I was so entrenched in this project, I went ahead & did a very careful job splicing in that "WTSHNN" section & Dquan81 has given it his approval & thumbs up so away we go into the rocking with U2 stratosphere from 1998!! --Thanks go out to fradoca for his wonderful work & Dquan81's sweet editing & his interest in getting me involved in this in the first place. Like the '93 project, I would not have been able to do this without their initial efforts. --Hope you all dig on it. I think it sounds great--still a little 'phat-compressed' out from the TV source WAV, but in an improved & really nice way now (IMO). --Also mucho thanks to U2 for an amazing show!!
