Another tape I'm really proud of. Enjoy! I was always a big U2 fan, having first seen them at the Paradise when the first album came out and then at the Orpheum when the second album came out. So when I was asked to be one of the limo drivers when they played a multi night stand at the then Worcester Centrum in 1984, I leapt at the chance. They stayed at a small boutique hotel that was called The Bostonian back then across from Fanueil Hall. My contact was Paul McGuiness, their manager and a hell of a nice guy. I was assigned Bono in a strecth limousine. He traveled with McGuiness and his assistant in the car. First night went off easy back and forth on a 45 minute ride between the hotel and the venue. Only the funny thing was right before we were all to take off room the venue after the show, Bono asked that the giant backstage door be opened so he could wade into the crowd waiting there by himself, no security. As he strode into the crowd , he extended both arms and just let eveyone touch him. I never saw anything like it.He signed no autographs, just waded into the crowd and then back to the limo. He would repeat this every night. Second night same crew was in the back, only with Adam Clayton. Bono said he was exhausted so I sped it up a littyle on the Mass Pike home and about ten minutes in I gto pulled over by the Staties for doing 75 in a 55. As soon as I pulled over, Bono stuck his ehad through the partition and said "Are we getting arrested?" I said "No, I was getting a ticker for trying to get you back to the hotel quicker" and he sat back as I got my ticket. When I got them to the hotel, McGuiness said he appreciated the gesture and he paid me for the trciket cash on the spot. Finally, last night of the gig, after we got back to the hotel they made us wait because they wanted to go to Weston to Elliot Easton from The Cars' house for a party. While we were waiting to take them, Larry Mullen Jr surprised all of the drivers by buying us pizza to eat while they partied. Which was nice. U2Torrents.com: Torrent 10892 (by econeywaaa)
