Evidence is included [see jpg]. Suggesting that this show was NOT u2's LA show but a "Pasadena" one is quite rediculous. Bono also refers to "feeling at home...in this city of Los Angeles". Nuff said. I went to both the Sat and Sun nites. Sat nites show recording didnt turn out well recording-wise. I captured Edge's feed from GA, around 2-3m from Larrys Drumkit at the end of the 2nd mini stage. Needless to say with all the twisting and swaying and the close proximity of others, the recording was full of bursts of static. Its pretty much unreleasable and ill leave it up to others to release a better version of the Sat nite. What is interesting however is that some others who were recording from very different locations on the Sat nite experienced some bursts of static in exactly the same song positions...hmm. Anyways for the Sun nite (this recording) i went for Bonos feed and a longer 3.5mm wire (2nd arial) to stabilise the feed better. I was quite high in the stands. Possibly too high to avoid some floating background static but the recording turned out to be far superior. With some clever mastering ive pulled back bonos vocal (traditionally too loud in his IEM) which sits nicely now in the mix and filled out some important bottom end. The result is a well balanced, tight, punchy stereo recording. Keep in mind that Bonos IEM also has a stereo audience mic feed mixed into them by the crew for his benefit so you can clearly feel the audience vibe as well which is great. 3x skips in SBS unfortunately. Seems there was a buffering issue in the iphone recording the dump. Never experienced this before. I think i should have removed the Sat show from it before attempting the Sun nite recording, and left more room. My bad. Fortunately it only happens at the start. Learnt my lesson i Wont do that again! Lots of stars in the audience. Bono refers to several..Dave Grohl, Matt Damon etc. The highlight in this recording for me is certainly BAD where instead of fading the song early, Bono turns to the others and waves his hand for them to "pick it up" and give it one more chorus. I felt it. They extended BAD more often after this nite in subsequent shows which was good. Shame tho that Bono overall is clearly "phoning it in" 90% of the time for both shows and pretty much the whole tour however and doing the least amount of effort required to just get by, get paid and get back to the Limo. Only time ive seen him really straining with real enthusiasm on this tour is in front of a TV camera and a few million people. 20,000 in a stadium is not considered worthy of effort in Bonos mind IMHO. I didnt connect with his passion in the audience like say the 89 Lovetown tour. But hey that was a different time and a different Bono. At least The Edge is always on point :) I was most disappointed however in the audience that walked out early in the middle of "Little Things". Who leaves before a u2 concert is finished? Half of the GA section cleared out whilst the band was still playing the song, which is not that bad to deserve it. Thats just disrespectful. Enjoy this great recording ppl! Ive been waiting to share this with you for months! Shout out and respect to da man BOYACROBAT & Sharebear for their monumental support and assistance. Share freely – Do Not Sell. Do Not Remaster.
