The first of the 2 shows literally 30 years to the day I first saw U2 playing the original Joshua Tree tour at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, Scotland on 1st August 1987. I would love to have gone to Brussels for my anniversary but as they were only playing the 1 show and it being midweek 2 nights in Amsterdam it became. Now, Saturday in no way went as planned many things contrived to put me in an absolutely foul mood. My plane was slightly delayed taking off, OK that allowed me an extra beer, no big deal. Flight was OK. Getting through Schipol fine. But delays getting the train getting into Amsterdam, starting to wind me up a bit. Get to my hotel, not the room I booked, apparently there is a difference between a twin bedded room for single occupancy, this is what I had booked and requested a double bed, and a single room with 1 twin bed ie a single bed!!! Now im really not enjoying myself. Hotel couldnt do anything as "fully booked" Tried to relax, started getting ready for the show, it starts to rain. At this point I have know idea that the roof is closed (phew), but im thinking SHIT im gonna get soaked even with hat and kagool. Metro, rammed as engineering works on the mainline, can anything else go wrong.......Get to the Arena still chucking it down, take out my "collectors ticket/credit card size/nice momento JT logo and date on the front, perfect.... NO. I get to the entrance, "Sir Im sorry this ticket is for Sunday not Saturday" Says the very polite lady at the gate, "But it says 29 July on the ticket" says I. She shows me the back of the ticket and yes there it says Zondag 30 July and the bar code that is supposed to let me in says NO, it appears a few tickets had this problem. Off to the information desk/box office/ticketmaster kiosk... no one qite knows which one and of course its the exact opposite corner of the stadium to where I am still getting incredibly wet. Eventually get the ticket thing sorted, its now 19.00 NGHFB due on, run round back to my entrance. In can hear them starting, not going to be able to record them so decide get a drink, find a good spot wire up and check levels. Ah, I need to get an Arena card for drinks, good job im coming back tomorrow...... into the Stadium, first good thing that has happened in my favour all day, the roof
is closed YES. Because of the rain probably more people inside at this time then normal, so cant get as close as I was hoping to to the B-stage, got a lot closer Sunday night. One final rant for Saturday, there are none whatsoever for Sunday you will be glad to hear, I ended up having a few beers during the early part of the show. As the JT ended I rushed to the toilet, got back as the intro to Miss Sarajevo was beginning so no music lost. This last part was therefore recorded further back in the stadium, no noticeable loss in sound quality but a noticeable lack of quality in the audience a lot more talkers 
so I had to move about a bit. Sunday being that much closer, around with proper fans, not too much talking although being a lot more psyched for Sunday after my problems Saturday you will all have to excuse me at the start of ASOH, at least I will know if my recording gets pressed or passed as someone else's. Sorry just had to let you all know...........  and breathe.....Still had a great time, 2 fantastic shows. Possibly would have liked to have heard/seen "The Little Things" instead of possibly Mysterious Ways but not going to let that in any way spoil my enjoyment. I hadnt watched too many video clips as knew the visuals were going to be amazing and they were that and more. I hope those of you who download find some enjoyment in my recordings, I have a slight preference for Night 2, maybe both could benefit with a little tweaking but Im not skilled in that way. I record primarily for myself and then to share. I will upload to U2T, happy for anyone to upload on DIME, Im sure they will make their way onto U2Start just please no selling.
