Dave Fanning Interview with Larry

Larry was very talkative though his image is that he is very introverted and does not talk very much. 
Dave Fanning and Larry talked about:

- Larry's musical influenes, The Who, David Bowie,
- there is not so "much doodeling on The Joshua Tree than on the previous album",
- it took much time to write the songs for the Joshua Tree,

- the world tour, Larry misses to play Kerry and Galway but it's not possbile at the moment,
- 20 songs for the album without any "throw away songs",
- a South American feeling while demoing the songs for the Joshua Tree,
- spiritual side of the album,
- Larry not being a drum technician, he even had to pay for his drum lessons because mother wanted him to be a piano player,
- Larry becoming a drummer because drummers and vocalists get most attention by the girls,
- his membership in marching bands like "The Artane Boys Band" and "The Post Office",
- Mount Temple School,
- U2's development and success in 1978 though many Dublin bands had better gear than U2,
- Dave Fanning remembering the "Dark Space Festival" at the Project Arts Centre in Dublin,

- problems with his hands in 1985, symptons were cured with pain killers, Max Weinberg adviced Larry to consult a US specialist,
- Christy Moore, The Dubliners, Paul Brady, Patti Smith,
- looking after U2's merchandise (quality, prices).
