The radio show was much longer because Bono and Larry requested for music by Pink Floyed, The Who, David Bowie, T. Rex,Magazine and Frank Sinatra and their requests were filled. Those music is edited out. They talked about: - U2's origins (too bad to play cover versions, started in a car park), - no move to London, their roots are in Dublin, - breakthrough in the USA before their success in Britain, - follow up album "October", - the song "Fire", - the forthcoming British tour in autumn. There is hiss on the recording. The quality is still okay. U2Torrents.com: Torrent 6639 (by Stadtfelder) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track 03: July 1982 (broadcast date; probably recorded in Hattem on May, 18, 1982) Lineage: tv broadcast on tape (unknown analog generation) > Yamaha KX-500 deck > Soundforge 9.0 > CD Wave Editor > wav. > FLAC Notes: It sounds like recorded in a small room/venue with some fans in the background. It was probably recorded after the show in Hattem on May 18th 1982. They talked about: - about the gig which had just been finished, - U2's start ("we are a garage-band from garage-land), - Dublin, - the meaning of the title "October", - success in America, - the song "Gloria". It is not the interview which is printed in Pimm Jal's book "A concert documentary" on page 33. It was included on the "Odds & Demos" vinyl bootleg (without any details about the source, either) which was released ca. 1984/1985. U2Torrents.com: Torrent 6721 (by Stadtfelder) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track 04: Lineage: fm broadcast on tape (unknown analog generation) > Yamaha KX-500 deck > Soundforge 9.0 > CD Wave Editor > wav. > FLAC They talked about: - announcement of the Punchestown Racecourse festival on July 18th, - the reasons for playing an outdoor show in the Dublin area (they did not intend to play in the Dublin area), - Paul Brady's motivation to play on this festival, - working on a soundtrack to be released in the next six months, - working on songs for a new LP, - a tour Japan/Australia which was planned but did not happen, - the single "Gloria" peaking in the Australian TOP 40, - about the fourth American tour in spring 1982, - not having decided about another producer for the third LP (e. g. Chris Thomas was mentioned), - "What are you doing in Dublin" (Paul Brady) "I never see you on parties." - still living between Finglas and Ballymun (Bono) and Malahide (The Edge). This radio show was very often a chat between Paul and Bono without any need of questions of Dave Fanning. It is really good to listen to. U2Torrents.com: Torrent 6691 (by Stadtfelder) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track 5: Lineage: tape (unknown analog generation) > Yamaha KX-500 deck > Soundforge 9.0 > CD Wave Editor > wav. > FLAC Bono was interviewed by a Swedish radio journalist. They talked about: - overcome the barrier between the audience and the stage, - realistic music. The questions are in Swedish. Bono's answers are not overdubbed. U2Torrents.com: Torrent 6640 (by Stadtfelder) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track 06: Lineage: tape (unknown analog generation) > Yamaha KX-500 deck > Soundforge 9.0 > CD Wave Editor > wav. > FLAC I did not split the interview in tracks. There are a few glitches (5:39, 12:55 and 20:37). They talked about: - the gigs in December 1982, - the gig in Belfast on December 20, 1982 and the "Sunday Bloody Sunday" performance, - playing in Slane in August 1981 during the album sessions for "October", - the Galway gig on December 19, 1982, - spare tickets for the Dublin show at the SFX on Friday December 24, - Steve Wickham, - the gig in Copenhagen December 1982, 14 (200 people entered the stage), - the U.S. festival in 1983. There is hiss on the recording and it sounds more like an AM and not an FM broadcast (maybe it really was an AM broadcast). The quality is still okay.
