The interviewer was called Tony Mac... who claimed that he saw U2 at the Manchester Polytechnic in 1980 (May 30th or October 9th?) when they played to an audience of nine people. They talked about: - the possibility to play in such a small venue like the Apollo again, - playing in bigger venues, - the work with Brian Eno, - touring to promot the "Unforgettable Fire" album, - details of the recording sessions and their feelings during the sessions, - Bono's voice as an extra instrument, - the peace exhibition, - the demo version of the album and it's difference to the studio version, - album critics like the "NME" ("...worst band in the world..."), - the song "Bad" and it's title (it was only a working title which became the real title in the end), - a second single of the album, - the plans to re-record a track for a single, - recording "4th of July" live in the studio, - their plans for one off show in 1985, - their plans for an album in early 1986. This is my favourite interview because you can hear some in depth analysis of the interviewer. U2Torrents.com: Torrent 6796 (by Stadtfelder) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track 04-09: U2 Interview Ireland 1985 All four band members (?) 04. Part I [5:05] 05. Part II [4:52] 06. Part III [5:07] 07. Part IV [4:52] 08. Part V [5:02] 09. Part VI [5:05] Total Running Time: [30:06] Recorded as aired. This is recording was burned from the master, volume increased using Audacity. This interview was recorded when it aired. It is incomplete, missing both the beginning and the end. I believe I hear all four band members, but can clearly recognize Adam and Bono's voices. I'm no expert on The Edge and Larry's voices by any means. Unfortunately, the interviewer never identifies himself, there are no station breaks and very little to allow identification. My original tape says "U2 interview 1982" but this is obviously from 1985 or later because they talk about "The Unforgettable Fire". There is very little reference to specific songs. It seems the interviewer is very familiar with the band and does not spend any time on more common questions. A lot of the conversation seems pretty abstract or at least broad rather than concerning specific U2 experiences. shared by john52il May/2010
